Oscar-nominated actor Don Cheadle ("Hotel Rwanda") has finished a biopic of legendary jazz artist "Miles Davis," Cheadle hired the Oscar-nominated screenwriting and producing duo, Chris Wilkinson and Steve Rivele ("Nixon").
After movies like Will Smith playing Muhammad Ali, and Jamie Foxx making us believe the Ray Charles role, its only in due time til the Miles Davis story is made to be seen, in Don's words, whether's it comes out today, tomorrow, or 10 years from now his story will always make an impact.

In her new book, Ray & Me, Marci Soto claims she had a steamy affair with Charles when both were married to other people, but one revelation in the tome will upset fans and friends of the legendary R&B star – she once substituted $1 bills for $100 notes after taking home cash from a concert. In the memoir, obtained by the Globe magazine, Soto writes, “I certainly didn’t feel like I was robbing the blind. I felt like he was ready to do something he should have done years earlier – pay off my house.”

Soto also reveals she once aborted Charles’ baby – and never told him. She adds, “I didn’t even tell Ray – there was no reason to know. I definitely wasn’t having a baby.” The couple became a secret item in 1968 – when Charles was married to his wife Della. A big fan, Soto convinced his manager to set up a date and they had sex that night. The pair enjoyed an on/off romance over the years and Charles even helped Soto cover her legal fees when she divorced her husband.
Nick Ashford, from the songwriting husband and wife team "Ashford & Simpson, has died at the age of 70. In recent months he had undergone radiation treatment for throat cancer,he died August 22, in a New York City hospital. Among the songs Ashford & Simpson penned are “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “You’re All I Need To Get By” and “Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand.
”He is survived by his wife and two daughters, in unrelated news they were given writing credit on the late jazz singer Amy Winehouse's 2007 CD Back to Black for the single "Tears Dry On Their Own". The track is based on a sample of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's 1967 Motown classic hit "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".
Esther Gordy Edwards, the sister of Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr., died Wednesday of natural causes. She was 91 years old.Gordy Edwards is perhaps best known as the founder of the Motown Museum on West Grand Boulevard. She also served as the Motown’s vice president and chief financial officer during the company’s zenith in the 1960s“She was the most educated in our family and was the go-to person for wisdom in business,” Berry Gordy, Jr. said in a statement.

Amy Winehouse, the 27 year old jazz superstar singer and 5 times Grammy winner was found dead at her house in Camden, North London. Paramedics were called to the singers house at 3.54pm but were unable to save the singer…Police are treating the incident as "Unexplained," but the cause was thought to be drug related. A police statement said: "Police were called by LAS to an address in Camden Square shortly before 4:05 pm, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene."

Grammy-winning Blues musician David “Honey Boy” Edwards, believed to be the oldest surviving Delta bluesman and whose roots stretched back to blues legend Robert Johnson, died early Monday in his Chicago home, his manager said. Edwards earned his nickname “Honey Boy” from his sister, who told his mother to “look at honey boy” when Edwards stumbled as he learned to walk as a toddler. He is survived by his daughter Betty Washington and stepdaughter Dolly McGinister, he was 96 years old.

Chicago soul singer Syl Johnson is saying that his song, sound, and likeness was used on one of the songs on Kanye West’s new album “Watch the Throne,” without his permission. Johnson claims one of the songs on the deluxe edition of the album, Kanye’s “The Joy,” uses vocals from his classic track “Different Strokes” without getting the proper clearance for the sample.
Johnson added that he was particularly surprised that West didn’t reach out to him, since his daughter Syleena Johnson was an acquaintance of West and sang the vocals for “All Fall’s Down” from West’s debut album “The College Dropout.”
